Your Balearic Island Destination
The Land and Its People
The Balearic Islands are a Spanish group of islands located just off the eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula – in the western Mediterranean Sea. The group consists of small islands and a large number of islets where most of which are uninhabited. The 4 major islands in the group are Formentera, Mallorca, Ibiza, and Menorca. The capital of the Balearic islands is Palma de Mallorca.
This group of islands has a total landmass exceeding 4,992 sq, km and a population of 1,100,000 people. Spanish and Catalan are the co-official languages of the Balearic islands where a majority of inhabitants speak one or both of these languages. In fact, 93% of these people are fluent in Spanish while 75% are fluent in Catalan. German and English are also widely spoken among these people – particularly those who work in the customer service industry.
Moving to Mallorca
The largest of the Balearic islands is Mallorca. Around 900,000 people live there. Over 20% of these people are from outside of Spain. In fact, Mallorca has the best infrastructure facilities among all the islands.
Moving to Ibiza
Ibiza is best known for its parties. But there is much more to this island than the famous clubs of Ibiza Town and San Antonio. The island is ringed by rocky coves & crystal-clear waters with Leonardo DiCaprio, Shakira, Gerard Pique, and Jade Jagger owning properties on the island. You should find a place near the international schools in Santa Eulalia in the east or Santa Gertrudis in the centre if you plan to relocate to Ibiza with your family.
Moving to Menorca
Menorca is a 50km island located just 25 miles off Mallorca. It’s the first place in all of Spain to see the sunshine each day. The island is relatively unspoiled compared to other parts of Spain. More than 4,000 Brits live in Menorca. Most of these people live around Mahon.
Moving to Formentera
This is the smallest of the Balearic Islands, which is around 83km2. You should access Formentera via ferry through the Ibiza harbor – just 6 km away. You may feel as if you are in the Maldives instead of the Mediterranean when you visit Formentera. The island isn’t affected by mass tourism – hence, it truly feels like the “last paradise” – just as the locals call it.
Why Choose Menorca As The Perfect Retirement Destination
There is nothing better than actualizing your retirement goals in the ideal location. This is why all retirement journeys need the perfect destination, like Menorca. https://www.edwardseuropeanmoving.com/why-choose-menorca-as-the-perfect-retirement-destination/
