Do I require a visa to live in Spain.
When moving from the UK to Spain, the visa requirements depend on the purpose and length of your stay. According to the official travel advice by the UK government, you can travel to countries in the Schengen area, including Spain, for up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa. This applies if you are visiting as a tourist or for business purposes.
However, if you plan to stay longer or for other specific reasons, such as work or study, you will need to apply for a visa. Any British citizen who wants to emigrate to Spain or stay for longer than three months in the country will need to apply for a “visado nacionale” (long-term visa).
Since the UK’s departure from the European Union, new visa regulations have been implemented. Moving from the UK to Spain mid to long-term requires Brits to obtain a visa that corresponds to their reason for stay.
Tourist Visa: UK citizens can visit Spain as tourists for up to 90 days within a 180-day period without needing a visa. This option is suitable for short-term stays.

If you have already resided in Spain legally for the 5 years leading up to Brexit you will be able to apply for a “permiso de residencia de larga duración” which means indefinite permission to reside in the country. This will be subject to meeting certain criteria as follows;

- You have not been deported from Spain
- A Net Income of €799 a month for a family of two (+ €266 per additional family member)
If you are retiring to Spain after Brexit, then you may have to apply for a permiso de residencia no lucrativa, or permission to reside without the right to work.
